Test Drive Meme #3

Proxima Test Drive
You woke up in a bright white room, disoriented and with a pain in your neck. The mirror in the room showed you a bruise, the injection site of the chip that will control your life while you're here. You have everything on you that you remember having before waking up here and you're looking to find out what's going on. The wall flickers like a screen, showing you your captors. After a brief and highly unhelpful conversation, you're let go, told to find your own way and adhere to the rules -- what little rules there are. You're trapped here on this island, under this dome, and you're about to know what it feels like to be someone's lab rat.
ΦLet's go to the beach - The Eastern Tropics always welcomes new members, hosting parties that go long into the night. Maybe your character feels like taking advantage of the surf, or maybe they just really like hot dogs. Jump in to that volleyball game over there, they can always use more players. Anything goes. ΦDr. Feelgood - Your character has arrived just in time for an experiment. Are their emotions wonky? Maybe they grew a tail or turned bright green. Or maybe everything just feels really, really good. It could be that it's not your character being affected, but someone else's and your character is completely in the dark about it and just trying to help. Anything goes. ΦCall Me - It could be your character prefers to try to do some digging or wants to meet people over the safety of their devices instead of face to face. ΦBlind Date - The scientists have set up a nice, romantic evening for you and an unexpected partner. A table with candles lit, a three course meal, and plenty of romantic music. There's no escaping, so you may as well take the time to get to know one another. ΦWild What do you have to do? Just pick a scenario and go wild. Please be sure to warn in your headers for any questionable or triggery content. It might be helpful to make a note as well if you're open to smutty scenarios or not, along with your preferences. As Proxima is an 18+ game, the likelihood of sexual scenarios happening is pretty high, so please remember to respect the preferences of your fellow players/potential players, and to warn as needed. |
Jin Kisaragi | Blazblue | OTA (for everything)
The walk had cooled him down, no pun intended. Now he was just merely annoyed with everything around him. As per his usual state of mind. When he had shown up, he wanted to cut down every last thing he could find, and freeze solid what he could not. The only thing keeping him from doing so was a lack of understanding. Acting out recklessly could cost him. Dearly.
And thus he had found himself in the heart of downtown. Rather lost, in actuality. He had not been paying attention to where he was going, nor making note of any landmarks to judge his location by. By and large, he had simply been clearing his mind. No small task, considered.
His eyes eventually caught someone. A "free samples" sign outside of some cafe. While he had no interest in whatever samples they were offering, nor any inclination to inbibe or partake in anything of this place...someone else was bound to. Perhaps he could get answers from them.
"One way or another." He muttered as his hand tightened around the sheathed blade at his side. After all, that was how anything got done back home.
Stupid fighting game worlds.B) Call Me
[The voice that speaks across the network right now? Extremely annoyed. And voice only. He doesn't want to broadcast where he is.]
Since the idiots who run this place gave me this, it's only fitting I use it to call them out. But since I know they'll only disappoint me, the rest of you have the chance to try and not.
What is this? The truth of it, not the same vague nonsense I was provided already.
[The only good thing he had discovered so far was this. It was really easy to just hang up on someone.]
C) Wild Card
[More or less for if you have an idea for a different kind of prompt or starter. Feel free to discuss, or just launch into it with me.]

She stayed up almost the entire night, kneading dough for bread, mixing batters for cakes, and whipping up a variety of flavored mousse for the filling and frosting. She was tired, but happy. It felt good to lose herself in one of her favorite activities, and the smells of freshly-baked breads and cakes put her at ease.
Getting customers, though? That was going to be difficult. Fruit probably wouldn't sell well for a while, so she kept it out of the cakes she offered this week. Instead she sold chocolate, mint, vanilla, and coffee flavored desserts, thinking they might be better received.
No customers.
She closed the shop for an hour and ran around town, putting up flyers advertising her new bakery and inviting people to stop by for a taste.
No customers.
Orihime put out a sign advertising free samples. Someone came in! Ate a sample. And left without saying a word.
It was a little discouraging. She leaned her elbows on the counter, her face cupped in her hands. At least she could daydream to pass the time, but she had hoped for a better reception than this.
Then she saw Jin outside the window. Lifting her chin out of her hands, Orihime blinked. Someone new? He didn't look like one of the soulless automatons that populated the city, and he sure didn't dress like them either. And he was entering the shop!
"Welcome!" she chirped, completely thrilled. "Did you come for the samples?"

It honestly seemed like the dumbest question he could have been asked. She all but jumped towards him the moment he had entered the shop. And the only reason he had was because he had seen someone staring at him through the window. And looked convincing enough to at least check and see if she was really human, or just another one of drones infesting this city.
That was when he realized what he was actually standing in. A brief, stunned expression on his face as his head shifted from one side to another, before finally coming back to her. And instead of annoyance, a bewildered expression.
"Is this a...cake shop?" Of all the strangeness he'd experienced since arriving here, this somehow seemed to be the strangest.

She could see that he was baffled, and she could understand why. How could anyone pretend that everything was fine in a place where people were kidnapped and forced to undergo sexual experiments? He probably thought she was crazy, or stupid. Maybe both! But really, what could she do?
"We need jobs to earn money to pay for our apartments," Orihime explained further, stooping down to withdraw a chocolate fudge cake and cut a slice. She laid it on a plate and offered it to Jin, along with a glass of cold milk. It was a pretty generous sample, but she wasn't running the bakery for the sole purpose of turning a profit. "It's a little unfair, isn't it? You'd think they wouldn't make us pay for stuff like that. You can get free housing in the south side, but it's really dangerous to live there. A lot of the robots went rogue, and they'll attack people sometimes. I wouldn't recommend going there if you can help it."

His own attitude of disliking everything not withstanding.
Her explanation only further served to annoy him. Here she was, talking about apartments and money. Why weren't they actively trying to get out of here? His eye twitched right up until she provided the aforementioned sample, which drew his attention away from her. And finally managed to get it all out of him in the form of a long suffering sigh.
"It's pathetic that this is the most information I've gotten thus far." He muttered dryly, and mostly to himself. Not helping was the realization that it had been some time since he had anything to eat. And that cake was looking...tempting. "Just to be clear, I won't owe you anything for this slice, correct?"
Ever the charmer.

Having only arrived the month before, she remembered all too well the frustration and unease upon her arrival. It was scary. And knowing what was expected of them made it even worse. Dessert didn't change any of that, but if it could help even a little, then she was determined to do what she could.
Coming around the sales counter, she drew out a chair and sat down, hands folded in front of her. "Do you know...about the nature of the experiments yet?"
Because she dreaded being the one to tell him, but if it was necessary, better that he not find out by chance or surprise.

Though his mind was still very much on the stranger, her actions, and her words. Just because she seemed harmless did not mean she was. And there was still a good chance that this could all be something else.
"No." He answered plainly, hesitating for a moment. Fork hanging just in front of his lips before settling a touch away, allowing him to turn and look at her a little more intently. He had a feeling he was not going to like this. At all.
"No, I do not."
no subject
But. He had to know the truth eventually. Orihime's smile faded, and she exhaled heavily. Chloe had been blunt and straightforward about it, and Orihime had appreciated that. She just hoped this guy didn't lose his temper and draw his sword to cut her head off out of sheer frustration.
"It's sexual," she said, unable to look at him. "I wasn't here for the first one. I avoided the second one by staying in my apartment for a week. But that's what they expect from us."
Orihime raised her hand to touch the side of her neck. The bruise had long since faded, but she still remembered the phantom ache. "They put a microchip inside of us that affects our chemical balance. If we try to get it out, it moves, and sometimes it'll hurt intensely."
Her gaze flicked to Jin, then fell to the table again. "I'm sorry. I wish I had something nicer to tell you."
no subject
And yet he still couldn't have expected the answer. Not entirely. For all the mystery and ill intent dripping about this place, for it to be entirely sexual in nature was...somehow the most infuriating thing about this all.
He set the fork down entirely, fending off his stomach and relying on distrust and paranoia as he gripped at his neck and glared a hole into her head. He wanted to know if she was lying, or if she was just as much a part of all this. It all came back to the fact that she was running some damned cake shop in the middle of all this.
Sighing, he turned back to the cake, looking down at the slice impaled upon his fork. "And here you are, despite it, running a cake shop of all things." There was a tone in his voice. Blatantly accusatory. Suspicious. Before he took the fork again and brought the piece to his lips. If she was innocent, then this was a harmless cake and she was just a fool. And if she was wicked.
Well, the threat was there but unspoken, and his sword was right by his side. She would have to react, wouldn't she?
no subject
"To be honest...I'm not really sure what to do anymore. We've searched everywhere for a way out, but they've been really thorough. But even so... Even so..."
Her shoulders wilted. "The cake is fine. Last week, all of the fruit was tainted, and anyone who ate it got changed. So it's okay to be suspicious of food. If you're not sure, I'll eat a bite too."
no subject
Trapped. Like a rat. In a sick lab that ran sexual experiments. Now, more than ever, he rather wished she was as nefarious as his worst case impression of her seemed. Just to have that excuse to lash out.
"Hmph." He "answered", if you could call it that, before all but stabbing the fork into his mouth and aggressively pulling the piece off. She had said enough to settle his concerns, at least enough to allow himself the chance of being deceived. And in light of not having something to attack, he was going to chew the shit out of that cake.
If he realized how ridiculous he probably looked at that moment, he would have never even stepped into the place.

"...I'm Orihime," she ventured. "From Karakura Town, in the country of Japan. Ah..." She tipped to the side to make it obvious she was taking his sword into account. "You're probably from a much different world than me, ne?"
Or maybe he just really liked armor and swords. It was possible!
"Do you know how to use the tablet they gave you? It's our primary means of communicating with each other. The other people I've met here have been really kind and helpful."
A - /gently touches your face
"Wai- wait!! Uhm, you don't have to resort to violence, I promise! I can help you if you're lost." Which wasn't the entire truth since she was lost but it would be good to distract him in case he lost his temper and stabbed someone. She had far too much experience with those types when she'd lived on Atia.
oh mai :3
Immediately, his gaze turned upon her. Still sharp and almost volatile at first. And while soften was a particular long stretch of a word to use, it did lose its killing intent when he realized that the person was trying to be helpful, and looked entirely unsettling. Instead, he folded his arms and looked down at her.
"Can you now?"
lmfao Jin pls.... some day I will pick up Noel damn it
"That way!! I came from that way. It's got more stuff than these side streets." And it was better than being in one of the seediest part of the cities. Hopefully her directions wouldn't get her into trouble with this guy.
