The sun is shining and the weather is nice and toasty. Overly toasty one might argue, even. It's a great day to be laying around at the beach, so it's a good thing that that's where you've found yourself today, whether you'd made plans to be there or not. Bathing suit and sunscreen ready, you're going to get your tanning time on.

But with heat comes the expected side effects for a place like Proxima Gamma. While the cool water can sometimes slow the effects, the heated beaches and freshly popped flowers seem to have made getting close to someone else just seem like a really great idea. You can try to fight off the side effects much as you want, but the scientists like to believe everyone has a breaking point.

[ To say that Astrid didn't like the heat was an understatement. She handled the cold back home with ease and so getting used to the heat was less than desirable. Still, having taken a break to make her way down to the water had proven to be a wise idea when the view of her shirtless intended greeted her. He didn't seem to notice her at first, so instead she simply leaned against one of the nearby palm trees and soaked in the view. She'd long since given up on furs, boots, and leathers, but her axe was never far from her person. Toying with it while she enjoyed the view before her eyes. For awhile she watched, before finally whistling low. ]

The heat sucks, but it sure is gorgeous here.

[ Having gotten lost in relaxing in the water, he hadn't even felt her eyes on him, floating on the waves for a little while. He clearly startled when he heard her whistle, spinning around and giving a small smirk when he saw it was only her. He fought rolling his eyes at her comment, giving her an amused look instead. ]

Aren't you used to seeing a whole lot of water? Doesn't seem like a stunning change of view.

[ There was a shrug of her shoulders and she came over to the waters edge, sauntering down the a clearly flirtatious swing of her hips. ]

It's definitely different here, where the water is concerned but you're right, otherwise the view isn't that different from home. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate it.

[ Her eyes never left him though. ]

[ Hiccup couldn't help but swallow a little roughly. That saunter was always so inviting. Plus, he's slowly starting to Get It. ]

I guess you're right. Even if things are familiar, they can still be as beautiful as ever.

[ She finally got to the edge of the water and sat down on the damp sand, not caring about getting her clothing wet. She dug her toes into the sand and felt the slow lap of water rush over her feet. ]

There isn't a beach you wouldn't enjoy though, is there?

[ He shrugged, going to swim for sure, coming up from the water to sit down next to her. ]

Water makes me feel pretty calm. It's a steady thing.

It's a lot warmer here than it is back home, nicer for swimming.

[She found herself feeling a little bit self conscious, eyes unable to meet his, though they were stuck on other parts of his body.]

Thor's hammer it's hot out here.

[ He was busy pulling some of the remaining seaweed and sand out of the crevices of his peg leg, but took the time to glance over at her with a smirk. ]

The water's nice and cool. You could always go swimming.

[ She glanced down at her clothing, gone were the thick furs and armor and in it's place a little sundress that covered less than she would typically be comfortable showing, but it was comfortable enough. It covered the swimsuit she wore underneath, but she couldn't bring herself to show just that out in publice. Even though it was the common style of clothing in this place.]

I don't know, Hiccup, there could be people around.

[ He looked down at his own bare chest, then back to her, back to himself, and once more went to meet her eyes. Brow arched, he gave her a skeptical stare. ]

You won't be any more exposed than me. Besides, no one's going to be paying attention once you get in the water.

[Her eyes rolled at his comment, but she stood up starting to take the steps down towards the water. It was so hot out and the water was just too tempting. She didn't immediately go to remove her thin dress though. One hand lifted to her braid, playing with the end.]

At this rate I'll be wearing my hair down in public.

[ !!! He got up from the sand and went to follow her, giving her a wary look because he can't tell if that's a joke or not. ]

Well, I mean, you don't have to take it that far.

[ She brushed at dress, sighing slightly as the cool water went up to her calves. Reaching down to stuck her hands in. With a glance over her shoulder, she smirked at him.]

What's the matter Hiccup, apparently it's the proper hairstyle here.

[ Astrid do NOT TAKE OUT THAT BRAID. He is very concerned about this. ]

Well, I mean, proper isn't really the world. People can maybe wear their hair down without the same sort of implications, but you it's not improper to keep it up. Besides, why would you want to let it down in this heat? That just seems a little foolish to me.

[ YEAH. THAT'S IT. TOO HOT, ASTRID. ]

[She tilts her head at him, watching him fumble. After all, that was nothing new. She debates between just all out laughing at it, or continue to tease. She holds back the laugh, the edges of her lips twitching.]

The...same...sort of implications? What implications Hiccup? [Her eyelashes batted slowly and she played the fool.]

[ He's starting to blush, but he's not buying Sweet Innocent Astrid routine. He shakes his finger at her. ]

Oh, no. No, no, no, I know you Astrid. You know exactly what kind of implications I'm talking about.

[Her eyes widened and her lips pursed as she shook her head quickly. She was still going to feign she had absolutely no idea. In fact, she reached up for her hair, starting to play with the piece of rope that kept the whole braid wound together.]
