The sun is shining and the weather is nice and toasty. Overly toasty one might argue, even. It's a great day to be laying around at the beach, so it's a good thing that that's where you've found yourself today, whether you'd made plans to be there or not. Bathing suit and sunscreen ready, you're going to get your tanning time on.

But with heat comes the expected side effects for a place like Proxima Gamma. While the cool water can sometimes slow the effects, the heated beaches and freshly popped flowers seem to have made getting close to someone else just seem like a really great idea. You can try to fight off the side effects much as you want, but the scientists like to believe everyone has a breaking point.

[automechanic]

[ The thing was that it was easier being here with both of her best friends around. She cracked one eye open when she heard him, and leaned up on her elbows where he sat down next to her, for a moment that action was lost on her. ] It's nice to have something new to experience, besides the heat isn't any worse than Rush Va... [ She halted as she saw the sand slipping between the cracks.]

EDWARD! What are doing. [ She reached out and grabbed him to pull him towards the blanket.] Don't go sitting in sand with that thing, I'll have to pick every single grain out of it later.

[hermetics]

[ He couldn't stifle the laugh at her freak out, letting her pull him and moving as needed to get onto the blanket when she did. ]

Still as big a gear head as ever. What's the harm in a little sand? Not like I haven't gotten worse with this thing.

[automechanic]

[ She leaned over and started brushing the sand off the metal, blowing into the areas that where it could have congregated, and probably unaware of the view she was offering in the process. ]

Yeah well, I don't have all my equipment here yet to fix this and I don't care what technology they have, I don't trust it.

[hermetics]

[ Welp, he's red as a tomato. He can't really help but stare a little. ]

You're not even going to try using it?

[automechanic]

Well, I'll still feel better once I find the things I'm used to, I'll go from her.

[Luckily for him, she hasn't picked up on it just yet. Once satisfied she leans back and catches how red he is and that he's staring. Her own cheeks warm a bit and she puzzles over it.]

...What...?

[hermetics]

[ Caught in the act. Fantastic. He can feel his face getting even redder, shaking his head a little. ]

Nothing. It's just really hot out here. Someone's gone a little overboard on the summer weather controls.

[automechanic]

[She suspects it's more than that, but she lets out a sigh and rubs at her eyes, letting him off the hook, though her own cheeks stay red and she has a hard time meeting his eyes.]

Yeah, it really it a bit too hot. Reminds me of some of the hotter days in Rush Valley.

[hermetics]

[ Phew. Got out of that one at least. He lets out a relieved sigh, before going to focus on the heat again, a definite whine in his tone. ]

Don't even get me started. I feel like I'm getting third degree burns on my sides over here.

[automechanic]

Want me to take a look at it?

[She reaches over to tug at his shirt. She hadn't done any automail work in days and it was itching her to fix something, and she had that gleam in her eyes that proved her intentions.]

[hermetics]

[ He can see that look in her eyes and he gives her ... pretty much the look in the icon. Shaking his head in disbelief, he grumbles as he goes to take his shirt off. ]

You've got a problem, you know that, gear head?

[automechanic]

[She frowned at that, eyes narrowing a bit, he was probably right, but in a crazy situation, she wanted something normal. His automail was normal to her. She tossed her hair over her shoulder.]

And if I didn't have that problem, you wouldn't have the best outfittings in all of Amestris. Besides, I haven't seen this for years. [Which brought some of the sparkle back to her eyes.]

[hermetics]

[ With her hair over her shoulder, Ed was left with an impressive view down her bathing suit again and he swallowed, trying to look away so that he could be less obvious this time. ]

It's still weird to think about. You and Al being from the future and me being stuck with this junk still.

[ waAAIIT WHAT DID HE CALL IT ]

Ah - not that - the arm is junk! Your work is great!

[automechanic]

[She slaps him on the back, probably bit harder than completely necessary.] Well of course it is dummy, it's my prized piece. [Her eccentric side calms down and she gets more serious.] You've been taking good care of it though. I'm impressed.

[hermetics]

[ He tries to be all nonchalant about it like of COURSE he would take care of it Winry what are you trying to imply here.

Except he knows that she'll call him on his bullshit so maybe he should just be honest. ]

You did a good job training someone to help me out with it on the island before this one. Otherwise it'd probably be falling apart right now. I was pretty stubborn about just letting it rust after you left...

[automechanic]

[An odd mixture of emotions crossing her face. One would think the girl had been cheated on. She understands things happened, but...it's hard to imagine her work ever being looked after by another person. Swallowing hard, she nods.]

Well...uh...they did a good job, so that's good...I guess.

[Her fingers trail over her work and she looks like she may completely burst into unnecessary tears.]
