The sun is shining and the weather is nice and toasty. Overly toasty one might argue, even. It's a great day to be laying around at the beach, so it's a good thing that that's where you've found yourself today, whether you'd made plans to be there or not. Bathing suit and sunscreen ready, you're going to get your tanning time on.

But with heat comes the expected side effects for a place like Proxima Gamma. While the cool water can sometimes slow the effects, the heated beaches and freshly popped flowers seem to have made getting close to someone else just seem like a really great idea. You can try to fight off the side effects much as you want, but the scientists like to believe everyone has a breaking point.

"Kind of weird we're here and they're not. You'd think since we were all in the same general location, we would have all been ... picked up." Or whatever the proper terminology for the method witch which they got here is. She's thinking it's more likely that they're home and not here, not giving much entertainment of the possibility that they'd be quiet ones. "But with them home, I guess that means someone's with Hope." Which, if true, is good.

"If Jackson survives you being gone, I'd be very surprised." Elijah's more musing.

"I imagine he and Niklaus will be at each other's throats knowing their personalities, but yes, I'm sure Hope is safe in New Orleans."

"here's hoping if we ever get back, he understands my absence was out of my control." It's not like she asked to leave.

"I'm not sure if I should be glad to miss whatever fights they pick with each other or not. Someone's got to tell them to stop." Maybe Aiden will have that covered.

"Because my brother is so likely to listen to someone else?" Elijah's expression held the faintest hint of a smile before he shook his head. "I think he'd be more likely to remove Jackson if he proves to be too much of a obstacle to whatever Niklaus has planned.

Even you should realize that his intent in inviting you both to reside at the house after your wedding is a means to an end, Hayley. I understand your reasons for wedding Jackson and even respect them, but..." He glanced past her for a moment.

"He will not be biddable enough to suit Niklaus."

She was going to reply to what he'd said about Jackson and Klaus and Klaus not listening to people (all true, she'd concede), but it seems like he remembers more from home than she does. "Klaus did what? That is definitely not what I last remember from New Orleans." She looks at him confused. She'd only just been recently reunited with her daughter, not even married yet, not even Klaus inviting them both to live there.

"...You don't remember the wedding?" Elijah's more looking for confirmation, his hands resting at his sides before he reached out, fingers brushing against her cheek.

"Do you remember Niklaus and Rebekah going back to face down our mother?" Or what happened after they left...

"No. Also no." Still confused. "All of us were at the safehouse, with Rebekah and Hope. Klaus and I got to see her for the first time in several months there."

"...Then apparently we're from different times as well. The morning of your wedding, you made your feelings clear to me when it came to your choice between myself and Jackson." But this was something he hadn't expected.

"Someone has a sense of humor, it seems." Or decided to give him a gift he hadn't expected, perhaps to ensure his compliance.

"...Oh." That sounds like it must have been awkward, considering it sounds as if she did go through with the wedding. She wasn't expecting a time difference to be an issue, but now that it is... this'll be something to deal with.

"It appears as if they do. Or, at least a sense of one that they think is funny regardless of what others think."

"I don't fault your choice, Hayley, it was yours to make and I will respect it, but as things stand here, how would you prefer to proceed?" The decision is in her hands and even if she hasn't made the choice yet for herself here, doesn't necessarily change what will come to pass.

"You remember things I don't, I obviously care about you. A lot." Well that sure is an understatement. Good job, Hayley. "I'm not about to tell you to leave me alone, if that's what you mean."

Understatements are the fabric of their lives. "I..." Elijah exhaled a breath.

"There are very few people I allow close to me, Hayley, but you are one of those few. I didn't make it clear to you at home and that was my mistake. Here perhaps, we have a chance to see how things could progress without the threats we deal with daily at home?"

"I think that's kind of on both of us. We both had plenty of chances but didn't take them." Not making things clear, that is. "So, yeah.." She starts again, nodding. "I think without the messes at home to deal with here, that could be changed."

"For the time being, it seems the best path, yes." Assuming nothing follows them here from home to complicate things.

Which is unlikely. Peace has never truly been a part of his life, after all, between cleaning up after Niklaus and Kol, and dealing with his parents.

"Have you had anything to drink since you arrived?" Because it's not like they're alone and broadcasting what they are is hardly a safe choice.

"Then that's the one we'll take." She replies with a small nod in confirmation. They'll just have to wait and see at first, it looks like, make sure nothing unwanted has followed them or anything like that.

"Some, yeah. Though it's been long enough that I could go for more soon."
